I really enjoyed doing the daily journal. This was a way I could Express myself and tell the story’s through my perspective and my imagination. To be honest before I took this class I hated to right but it was because I didn’t understand the structure. My lack of knowledge lead to a lack of self confidence. I also enjoyed the trip hop playlist that we would listen to while doing these journals. The music helped because it wasn’t filled with someone talking throughout, the fast paced beat also prevented any down feelings of being tired. This journal has helped me in more ways than one and probably my favorite part of the class. The fact that I could easily log on from my phone an type on something that I’m so comfortable with helped this out tremendously.
The new Yorker cartoon
The New Yorker cartoon from today is an scene from an “intervention” for president trump, during this so called intervention it shows everyone around him giving him complements, and tell him how great he is rather than explaining the things he needs to change and do better in order to run our nation. I believe the artist drew this to show the type of environment workers are facing when dealing with the president. Just dealing with any president is a difficult task, but this one might be the toughest of all time.
What inspires me?
Mom mother inspires me. She grew up on a farm with a family that couldn’t provide for itself in Honduras. My mother is the oldest child, so she had to take care of her siblings. My mother knew this wasn’t the life she wanted for her future family so she sought out a better life her in the states. Not know any English my mother came to this country as an illegal immigrant in the 90s. She started to work and send back money to her family back home to support them. She met my father and had me at the age of 24. Honestly that’s probably the last time she good a actual break from work. She has worked her way up from a little girl on a farm to a very successful businesswoman and a home owner. On top of all that she had to raise me on her own since my father passed away when I was a child. She is not only the strongest person I know but she is also the nicest. My mother does everything she can to make sure everyone around her is well taken care of. She gives hundreds of people free food every Christmas through her catering business. I hope I can be half as successful as my mother.
Living with the Nacirema tribe for one year
Living with this tribe would be a cool experience for a few days, not a year. I would think of the few days as an extreme version of a camping trip. Honestly I think a few days might even be too long. I went car camping at Coachella one year, and after day three I was ready to be back home, or in a hotel room. I was tired of being in a tent and extreme heat with only an ez-up for shade. I enjoy our modern technology way to much to like with a tribe like the Nacirema.
How have you grown as a writer?
I feel that I have actually been making improvements. I have learned to structure my writing skills. Before I would just write things with no flow or reasoning now I know to give supporting elements that will help paint a more vivid picture through my words. I have learned the different ways to introduce an essay like the upside down triangle trick. I feel like I have improved, my scores from my essays reflect that. Earlier this year I started slow and didn’t realize how many things I was actually doing the wrong way. Now I see a million ways to improve my writing. This takes practice and patience just like anything else in life we strive to be good at.
What makes you laugh?
Things that make me laugh are when my close friends mispronounce words . We all get called out for our mistakes, but within my circle we will make sure that you don’t hear the end of it, also we make sure we don’t forget the word. This past weekend a buddy of mine was trying to say “our golf game was bad” instead they said our gorf game was bad. We gave him a hard time about it and said that our golf was compatible to barf and that’s why he combined the 2 words on accident. Now that gorf is a word that is always used whenever anyone of us is struggling.

Soccer or “futbol”as the rest of the world calls it is a beautiful game. This is the definition of a team sport, its played by 11 players for each team. My favorite team to watch is the LA Galaxy. Galaxy have the most championships by any Major League Soccer (or MLS) with 5. I have been a season ticket holder for the past 2 seasons, and enjoy every minute of it. The Galaxy have a great stadium and even better fans that rally behind their team. We recently got another team in LA, that created a crosstown rival this adds to the experience and the match is one of the best all year. This match is better know as ” el traffico” since a freeway and traffic are all that separate our 2 teams both of us are atop the western conference standings so this match is shaping up to have even more meaning not only the king of LA but it could decide who will get home field advantage in the playoffs. My ability to play soccer as a child help spark the joy that continues through my adult life . Now I enjoy watching the professionals do what they do best.

GAME OF THRONES
Game of thrones is now on season 8, in my opinion it is the best show ever created. It’s a science fiction story that has a little of everything there are dragons, zombies, kings queens and everything in between. There are characters who die every episode and some who have been their from the start. It’s all built up to this final season and the primer had over 17 million views on opening night. This TV show is probably the best HBO has to offer. The story includes: lust, love, hate, revenge and many other subplots to keep everyone entertained. The season 8 premiere was one of the best of the entire series it built up so much anticipation for the rest of the final season. I can’t wait to watch the rest of the season, but I’m sad that it is the final one this show has been ongoing for almost a decade and caught the attention of tens of millions of people. If you haven’t seen any of it and have a good 50 hours to kill I suggest you binge watch the whole thing.

My most prized possession is…
My most prized possession is my home. As a child I would move around a lot from apartment to apartment never really setting down and staying in one location for more than a couple years. This all changed when my mother met fred who would later marry my mom and become my step father. At first I hated his home and would do everything I could to get away from there. I would play sports at school and even stay for after school activities. Over time I have become the complete opposite I enjoy going home now and helping around the house. I even find myself getting homesick when I’m away for too long. I have done so many things I once hated as a child for example I would never work on our garden, but now I use this time to meditate and just get away from everything. I never got the chance to tell my step father that I learned, and that I appreciate the beautiful home he left us with. I try and bring as much life to my home as possible. Whenever I go travel I’ll bring something back to remind me of where i was but my home is where i want to be.
